Second Annual China-South Africa Student Dialogue -- Press Release

Cape Town -- The second annual “From University to the World” Student Dialogue was held on 10 August 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa. The event was hosted by China Plusof China Media Group and Global Max Media Group (GMMG).


The aim of the event is to promote cultural and social exchange between the young adults from China and South Africa. With 2018 marking the 20th anniversary between the two nations establishing diplomatic relations, the significance of building a stronger relationship and a solid foundation for co-development has become more apparent than ever.

Furthermore, with President Xi Jinping’s state visit to South Africa prior to the 10th BRICS Summit held in Johannesburg, the friendship and understanding between the two nations have reached a new frontier.


During the dialogue, the student candidates from China and South Africa engaged in a comprehensive exchange that covered a wide variety of social-economic topics. These included culture, languages, traditions, customs, stereotypes, affects of BRICS on both nations, and benefits of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation among others.


The candidates were enthusiastic during the entire dialogue and displayed a comprehensive understanding of the featured topics. The level of knowledge and insight held by the candidates exceeded the expectations of the audience. The event ended in great success with the candidates having learned more about the cultures of each other.
